Apply to Cohort 1.

Two minutes. Tell us which role catches you, what you'd like to ship, and how to reach you. We'll write back within a few days with the running count and what happens next.

What you're applying to

Cohort 1 — County Carlow on localnews.ie. Four weeks. Eight to ten members across six roles. Mentored by Kali. Free. Kicks off when we have eight members confirmed — not on a fixed date.

The application

While we finish wiring the form, the simplest way to apply is to email us.

Send a short note to hello@theacademy.ie with these four things:

  1. Your name and a contact email (or phone if you'd rather)
  2. Which role catches you? Pick one (or two, if you're between). Quick links below.
  3. What you'd like to ship — in one short paragraph. Doesn't have to be polished. We're reading for fit, not for prose.
  4. Anything you've already made (optional) — a link, a github, a photo of a thing. If you don't have anything to point at yet, that's also fine. Most applicants don't.
Open your email app and send →

The button above pre-fills the four prompts for you. If your email app doesn't open, just write to hello@theacademy.ie directly.

Which role catches you?

What happens next

  1. You apply (above).
  2. We write back within a few days. We'll tell you whether your role is filled, where you sit in the running count, and roughly when we expect to kick off.
  3. When we have eight members confirmed, we lock the cohort. Kickoff call goes in the calendar for the following week.
  4. Four weeks of work. You ship. We graduate you with a reference at builtinireland.ie/references/<you>.

What about Cohorts 2 and 3?

If you've read the cohorts page and you're more drawn to Cohort 2 (myid.ie editorial) or Cohort 3 (pubhub.ie directory data), just say so in your email. We keep a pre-apply list per cohort and will get back to you when that cohort opens.
